Poor, Poor Skylar

Again. This first pictures is from yesterday. She has a hematoma in her right ear. See how it hangs lower than the left ear?

We just got back from the vet. She has a tube in her ear to let it drain. She also had her left canine pulled. Actually, it wasn't pulled; it was cut out. The root was coming out the side. It was just a thin layer of gum left. He lanced the gum and cleaned it out that way. The vet said he had never seen that before.

Chili is trying to tell her she hopes she feels better soon. Bless poor Skylar's heart. She is also having some arthritis problems, also. You really have to be tough to go old. I know.

Thank You LORD, Rain!

Again! We got .44 of an inch Monday and again today a little over an inch. My purple fountain grass is laying over; heavy from the rain. That's okay. You can tell the parts that I've been watering. Around my trees and parts of the grass. Double win today. Not only did we get rain, it only reached 97.7 today at 11:08am. It is now 74 degrees. Tomorrow back up to 103 or so.

After the rain slowed way down the chickens went out to see what they could stir up.

Why is it weeds can survive so and grass can't; grass for heaven sakes. I really do know the answer. I will catch up with everyone tomorrow. I'm going to sit in the swing on the porch since it is so cool this evening.

There's A Piece Left

And I want it! A couple of weeks a ago, I had friends over and someone was sitting in this chair handing out treats to the little dogs.

Later while I was watching TV, I looked over and there Chili is walking around on the table. Sniffing and looking.

Sure enough. A piece of chicken jerky was under the lamp. I got it out and she yummed it up.

Dinner Time

As soon as the fish hear my voice the think it is time to eat. That sounds familiar around here, doesn't it?

It is hard to see the one I call Mamou. It is changing from black to gold. They aren't really black; it is a real dark gold that looks black.

I now have thirteen, I believe. Nine babies made it this year.

After Mamou changes to gold, I will still have three of the dark one and six colored ones.

Only one favors the coloring of a shubunkin. The other gold and white ones get the coloring from the comet.

Guess What

You might have to enlarge it to get a good guess. No guessing bird; narrow it down.
It's a bat. Every evening you can stand out in the yard at dusk and watch the bats. I have seen about six at a time. Sometimes they won't be but about five or six feet over my head. They just will not pause so I can take their picture.

Twins

Yesterday a doe brought her twins up for a viewing. I'm sure that was the reason.

Aren't they cute!

"Well I'm hungry, too.

First Fawn

This is the first fawn I've seen this year. The doe brought it up when she came to feed. I think she must have been nervous because she only stayed for a few minutes. She hasn't been back yet, either.

But, isn't it cute. I think it is about two months old now.

No Grass!

Poor Poppet and Suki are out in the pasture grazing everyday; what I don't know. It is so HOT and DRY. It has been over two weeks since we had rain; and then only seven hundreds of an inch. That didn't last the afternoon. What is so sad is that it has rained around my area, just not here. Oh well, no need whining about it.

As soon as they saw me walk to the fence to take their picture, here they come. Treats! So I had to go back in the house to get something.

Pears this time. Good and juicy. They had apple this morning. I still have a couple of ears of corn for their treat tomorrow.

Enough of pictures.

We don't like it.
I have been lax lately, but I hope to do better. I still follow my blogs also, I just can't comment on some. I hate this new blog stuff. Linda G, I tried and tried on yours and gave up. That might be one reason I gave it up for a while. It certainly hasn't been because I'm busy outside. It has been over a hundred everyday for twelve days straight. Awful.
