New Years Eve

It's New Years Eve and it its 75*. The first of the week we had a low of 17*. Of course, this kind of weather brings on tornadoes. The cold is coming back tonight and tomorrow. I heard it will be in the twenties for lows in a couple of more days.
These are some blooms and baby limes on my key lime tree.
I saw a honey bee and a couple of lady bug in my little green house. I went to get the camera; you got it. They were gone by the time I got back out.

So I got a few pictures of the Goldfinches. They are yumming it up.

When it is cold, there will be about eight to ten on each sock. I also have different feeders and a sunflower seed feeder. I do like to watch the birds and see what all kind of breeds I get.
I hope everyone has a Happy New Year!!

Camping Trip

In November we went camping. (No, I have not been camping all this time; I've just been busy, lazy or something or all of the above). This is what we were camping in. Actually, there were two trucks and campers.

We had great fun. We went hiking and sitting around a fire for it was cold. We were camping at Lake Claiborne in northern Louisiana. Not far from home.

This was one of the sites when we came close to the lake on one of our hikes through the woods.

This was outside the camper one morning. There was lots of fog on the lake. I was trying to get a shot of ducks I saw fishing. It didn't happen. It was a really pretty spot and I hope we do this again in the early spring. I also hope I do better at my blogging. Sorry to be away so long.

No Rain

It is so dry here it is unreal. Where I live we have had less than .20 tenths of an inch in two months. Although the whole state is in drought, the area I'm in is even less the most areas.

There is no grass for the horses. NONE! I have even started feeding them the hay I have for the winter. I can only hope we get enough rain soon to get the Rye grass going. I had the horses moved to my brothers pasture, which had just a little grass, and last Saturday they decided to come home. Scared me too death. I looked out and they were coming down the road. Not good.

Hopefully we will be getting more rain soon.

Peep-Eye

Thank goodness I check my shoes every now and then. I am afraid of putting my feet in shoes with spiders in there.

These shoes stay on the porch and I usually just jump in them. I have no idea why I looked this morning, but I did.

I think this little frog what hiding from Oscar or Chili. I think it was Oscar because he was under the steps barking the night before.

That's okay; he found the perfect hiding spot. I just jumped in another pair of shoes.

My New Baby Calf

He is one week old today. He and mom was taking a nap when I came up. I can't tell you how lucky I was to get so close; even with a fence between us.

Now it's time to get up and see what is going on. He is so cute.
He is up looking around; not to get to far from mom just yet.

He believes he will have a little bite to eat. Since it is here.

Sure is good.
Hopefully I won't be so long in updating my blog and seeing what is going on in the world. I have missed everyone blogging.

Good Times In Orlando

We just can't leave the phone alone. Actually, she was just sending pictures of us to our family. This is my friend Norma.

This is a really big pool. I think there are seven or nine in this village.

The water fall makes the water reallly cool. It feels good though after sitting in the sun.

Norma in front of the waterfall;

and me in the chair reading.

Hunting For Fish

They are not there. I had a disease or something get in the pond and all my fish died. So I'm just letting it go for right now.

He's not giving up; still looking.

And looking. I am going to drain it when I get back from vacation and start all over again. And hope I don't have anything in there to kill them.

Trouble

You see the trouble, don't you? And I'm getting tired of having to get her out of the tree. She was not the first one that started getting in the tree at night. But when I caught her and put her in the house, she only did it one more time. Thelma is a little more hard headed.

As you can see I have the ladder handy so I can get her and put her in the house.

So now I have to cut some more limbs off. I guess I could have trimmed her wings, but I wanted to try this first. I am leaving for a week on August 28th and having someone close up at night and open in the mornings.
So far, so good. She is going in the house at night.
This morning I sitting on the front porch drinking coffee about eight thirty and my chickens were in the pasture. They started clucking and running every which way. I jumped up and started screaming and running to the fence and saw a coyote running back in the woods. If I hadn't been sitting there, he would have had a chickens. So now, all this week before I leave, I will start walking through the woods morning and evening and hope this will hold him off for the week I will be gone.

Company Calling

Skylar, Chilli and Sissy had a visitor yesterday. This is Lola. I missed the best pictures (naturally) because I didn't have my camera close enough. Lola was giving Skylar some kisses. Long time no see.

Giving this toy a good shaking.

What about me? Chilli is not going to be ignored for long.

She knows how to get the attention. Be really mouthy; and she is.

See who ends up with the pink toy.

Duck Taped Chicken

Poor little Pepper. Well, maybe little is not the right word. Anyway, I put duct tape on her back because she didn't have any feathers. I think Foghorn pulled every last one off.

I learned this little trick from Callie from On The Front Porch. Pepper was hiding all day from the rooster because I'm sure it hurt her back when they jumped on. I think she is doing better now.

Sorry, I haven't been blogging very much lately. One thing it is so hot out, I don't too much care what is going on outside. That's not true. I really do. Hopefully, I will get better.

Naked Ladies

One day I am out by my little fish pond and everything is just as it should be; then the next day I notice my Naked Lady stalks. Of course my weeds around the edge of the fence are distracting.

I just moved them here in the pond area because every year the greenery would come up in the spring and then no Naked Ladies in the summer. Well, this year, three came up. I don't remember how many I planted here, but it was more than three.

They were a pleasant surprise. Maybe next year more will appear.

Poppet And Suki Having a Nice Day

Suki is thinking maybe I have an apple to give. It doesn't matter that she just had one a couple of hours ago. There is always room for more. After I snapped the picture she wheeled away and ran over by Poppet.

As you can see, I desperately need to bush hog my pasture. However, the tractor is sick. I don't have one so I use my brothers. Hopefully he will get it fixed soon.

"I do believe I might hear something."

Okay, turn around and show your rear. No more front end pictures.

Okay, we're outta here.
