Foraging for worms or bugs

It has been raining off and on for the last couple of day. These are pictures of my chickens foraging for food afer a rain. They really like to graze out in the pasture at dusk. I don't know if hawks are less likely to prey for food then or not. The threat of hawks seems to be really bad during the spring. Maybe they are trying to feed the young. They have already got one of my hens about a month ago. I do get attached to my animals and hate for anything to happen to them. Oh, the woes of life.
Well another storm is on its way and we are locked up for the night. So, good night all!

My Horses

These are my horses, Poppet and Suki. They look calm now, but when I took thier picture; Wow!Away they went. They hadn't had thier treat yet, so they came back. Suki is the spotted one. I've had only about two years and I don't really know how old she is. She was a rescue horse but she is doing really well now. Poppet I've had for about twelve years. Like all my animals, they are spoiled.

Chili and Skylar's friends came to visit Saturday.

Beck's Barnyard got some new additions last week. I now have six new baby Ameraucanas chickens. Right now they are trying to get a little nap in. I already have four Barred Rocks, five sex-links ( which are half Rhode Island Red and half White Rock), and two roosters. I don't have pictures of all the adults yet. They are busy taking turns laying eggs.

Also last week we got to see Caroline and her mom, Elizabeth, (better known as Baby Bean and Lizzie Bean of the Rose Jugglers) while they were in Pea Ridge. Caroline was on spring break and they came to visit Nana, who lives across the street. I didn't get a picture to them. I'm new at this but, thanks to Lizzie Bean I'm learning.

Introducing Chilli & Skylar

Poor Skylar was kicked by one of my horses, Suki, last week! Chilli was very sympathetic! Sylar is now feeling much better and thinks she can chase horses again (actually, she never really gave it up.....)
