Remembering George

One year ago today, my Daddy died. So, I thought I would post a few pictures of him. These were made at his house about six months before he died. The first picture is of Daddy, Tony (my son) and me. Then Tony and Michael with Daddy. I think he was about to get tired of all this picture making in the third one. The last picture is from about five or six years ago. Tony was trying to learn how to plow. He didn't get very far because Daddy was wanting to finish. Of course, plowing was not something Tony would be using alot.
We all miss him, but we have lots of memories. we can laugh and tell stories for days.

Resting In The Backyard

Chili and I were chilling in the backyard trying to get pictures of the birds. We didn't do real well this first time. I was wanting to get a good picture of the Indigo Bunting. You can just barely see it. I didn't have it zoomed as much, I think. I got a picture of the Blue Grosbeak. Neither is really very good. Maybe one day I will get lucky and get a really good one.
You see in the back ground where I had been busy, right? I was planting my sweet potato vine plant Mary Jane gave. Pretty, huh? When it gets bigger I will have to get a better picture.

Two of a Kind

It must be the breed. Chili and Oscar love to chase frogs. They will spend a lot of time around the pond. Oscar is worse than Chili though. He is also more destructive. He has chewed the hose and pulled the pump up; he has destroyed all the tops of the iris and trampled the plants in the little bog area of the second pond. He has fallen in the pond a lot of times also. I'm having a really hard time this year trying to get my pond clear. It is really green. I didn't get to finish working on the plant area last year; so, it has been two years since I did cleaned up around the pond. As a result, lots of weeds. I hope to start tomorrow. I have bought me a windmill palm to go in here also. I hope to have it cleaned up and looking good soon. We'll see.

Sharing My Patio Chairs

Several weeks ago, I was quietly sitting outside in the late afternoon just enjoying the day. Then here comes the chickens. I don't know if they just didn't see me there, or just didn't care. The first picture is of the Sicilian Buttercup. The buttercup name comes from the comb. It is shaped like a cup. The other two are of my Ameraucana biddies. They won't be biddies very much longer. They will be pullets. Anyway, I didn't share very long; I shooed them on thier way. I think they are just used to resting on my chairs and tables; which is really not a good thing. I just don't know what to do about it.

A Walk Down Pea Ridge Road

I have been looking at clouds and rain for about a week now; so, I decided I would just post some pictures I made while on a walk. The first picture is of a honeysuckle vine in bloom. They smell wonderful. I didn't notice it at the time, but Skylar was sitting there. She is probably telling me to hurry up and let's go. I think the one with the little purple looking flowers is a Chinaberry Tree. I think. Then I took one of a privet blooming and clover. I also got a shot of a few dewberrys. I believe I can almost taste a cobbler. No need to drop by just yet; I haven't even picked any.

Vegetable Garden

I really get excited about fresh tomatoes. As you can see, I have lots of plants. I always think if most don't work; maybe I will have at least a few producing. I really hope they all work well. Besides tomato plants, I have some potatoes and some kind of little pea that I can't remember the name of. It doesn't matter anyway because they do not even have a bloom. I know it is late for the potatoes (my father always had them planted earlier) but I hope for a little output. I have basil, parsley, and cilantro. I also planted some corn this year. I have never grown corn before. At least not on my own. My father could really grow some corn. Anyway, if it doesn't do good; the horses get the results. Even if it is just stalks, they love it. Win, win situation, right?
Everyone have a good weekend!

Miss Addie Cat

I think this is the only animal I own that I haven't posted. So far! Addie Cat is thirteen. She hasn't always belonged to me. She was given to my sister when she was little. After my sister got so many other animals, that Addie didn't like, Addie ended up at my house. I just started feeding her and she decided she would call this home. Because of her age, I let her in the house during extreme weather. Sometimes she will just sneak in and catch a nap on the bed in the guest room. She probably thinks it's hers. There are a couple of stray tom cats that come around for a meal every now and then, but other than that; she's the "cats meow!"

More Biddies

More biddies, yes. However, I did not go shopping for these. As you can see these are little rescued Easter biddies. I have had these biddies for little over a week and they are already going into the chicken coop and have been running around all over the yard. Last night was the first night they were able to get on the roosting pole. The green one wanted up with the big chickens, but they pecked him down. Notice I said him. I am sure he is a rooster; not sure about the pink one yet.
When I first got them, Oscar would follow them around for awhile. He would even lick them, but he would not try to eat them. He definitely knows better. I had no idea I could let the little chickens just go around in the yard. They are doing really well now. Of course, when they were smaller there was the chance of the cats coming around and getting them. Hopefully, they will be alright.
