Peeps

I bought some peeps Friday. Just can't stand it. I guess I am a baby chick addict. I lost so many last year in the summer to the coyotes I want to make sure I don't get that low again.

I got two Barred Rock, one Dominique, two Rhode Island Reds and one Americana. One of the little black ones, I think that one in the center between the two reds, doesn't look well. I hope she will be alright.

I just love watching the cute little things.

Now that I know what it took to get rid of the coyotes, I'm hoping I can nip it in the bud before it gets bad again. I also have to watch out for hawks this time of year.
I also have some Golden Sex-Link ordered. I think it will be about a week when they arrive. I also found the other Wyandotte broody today. I will probably let her have a few eggs.

The chicks are so cute. Maybe I can talk Kristine into getting a few new chicks?

How does the newspaper bedding work out?

Please consider blogging about using newspaper as bedding because I have read that you shouldn't do that because the chicks legs spread out or something?

So, we were scared off and used a special bedding for chicks. It sure would be cheaper and easier to use newspaper!

Love the chicks little feathered wings and even the one you said wasn't too well looks healthy.

Looking forward to a newspaper bedding post from you. Thanks!

I love watching these little guys. It takes me back to a couple of years when my parents raised chickens. I'm not sure why, they were city people.

We had Rhode Island Reds and what we called Domineckers.

Those peeps are the cutest. Mom recently read an article about dwarf Wyandottes and fell in love. They look like one big pile of feathers. Of course, here in the city she can't have hens...
