Baby Chicks

Thursday I had four baby chicks to hatch out. She had six eggs, but two, Americana eggs, didn't hatch. That's okay. I hope I don't have four little roosters.

This is the first day they have been out. Boy is it cold. We haven't had much cold weather this year. It only makes sense, baby chicks hatch, it has to be cold. It is going to get down to about twenty tonight.

"Let me under! I'm cold"

I put a little feed out in front of them and put a Biddie water dish them. Iris said she wanted some of that water.

I'm hoping to get 2 more Polands this Spring. A blue and a silver lace. That'll give me 4 which will be plenty. Good luck with the pullet count. ;)

Wonderful! Congratulations! Who are the parents? They all look different than the hen.

It's cold here, too! Hubby said Louisiana and NC had the same temp this morning. Brr!

Stay warm!

A hen and her chicks is the perfect site. I don't let my hens hatched this time of year, but I am a worrier. I know a good hen will keep her babies nice and warm when they need it. I hope the little ones are all girls.
