Colorado Cousin

My cousin, Mike, from Colorado came to visit Mona, Johnny, and me. We haven't seen him in many, many years. It was really good to see him again. Skylar and Chili went out to welcome him. He made the mistake of throwing the Frisbee for Skylar and the ball for chili. Now, never ending. Chili sat the ball right on his shoe. Oops had a bite.

This last picture is of everyone watching something funny on the computer.

Playing opossun

This morning after I got up and let the dogs out, (and it is still dark) and went and got my paper, Oscar is in the back just barking away. I went back in the house and was drinking coffee and listening to Fox and Friends and reading the newspaper. I multi task! He kept on and on and on. So finally I went out to see what was up. He was in my shed just barking away. I thought he had a cat treed in the shed. It was a opossum. I finally get it pushed out and Oscar attacked it. So it played dead. It is no fun attacking something that is dead. You nudge a frog, it just won't hop. You nip at a opossum, it just want move.
So, I pick the opossum up by the tail and take it to the edge of the woods. Then I remembered; I should be taking pictures. I took these pictures and Oscar and I left. Later this morning after I got back home, I went to check; yep, he was gone. Just playing opossum.

It really was a good thing Oscar found the opossum because one of my hens went in the shed early to lay an egg. Not good.

Snitching Cat Food

The other day I looked out the kitchen window and the were some of my Ameraucanas on the rail eating cat food. Addie hadn't eaten it all and they were just cleaning it up.

They didn't really take kindly to me interrupting them either.

Cindy hung in as long as she could.

First Confederate Rose

One day while walking through the woods, I spotted this tree. I have no idea what happened to it, but it got back on track somehow.

This is the first confederate rose. As you can see, I will have lots of them if nothing happens to my bush. I can't image a frost or freeze this early.

Some People Just Will Not Listen

Late yesterday afternoon, Michael wanted to get my lawn mower and take to his place so he could get up early and mow. I said why don't you just wait until morning. Oh no; got to do it now. He could have just sat back, watched the football game with the rest of us. Nope, plan ahead. So, about twelve or one am; here comes the rain. And it rained and it rained and it rained. Now later this morning he had to bring my lawn mower back and park under the shed. Here we are, on the front porch suiting up. Okay, you have to run to the truck because you don't want to get wet, right? You think he forgot he was wearing a slicker?

Here he comes on the little John Deere.

Fungus and Mushrooms

While walking through the woods, I found a downed tree with the fungus growing on it. It was like patches of it.

I also found this mushroom growing on the side of a tree. Weird, huh?
Foghorn is better and with the flock again.

Foghorn is not Feeling Well

I feel bad for making fun of Foghorn napping all the time. Last week I took a picture of Foghorn napping. Well, I noticed a couple of days later he was napping standing up. It got worse everyday. Yesterday afternoon he went in the shed where the hens lay there eggs. He spent the night there. I just closed the shed so nothing would get him. I don't think he has been out all day. He might be feeling better this afternoon because I heard him crowing. Hopefully, he will be well soon.
The first picture is just where my three hens that lay will nest. I have six nesting boxes in the hen house. Do you think they go there to lay. No, they have to find somewhere else. Actually, they were laying in the hen house, but one found another place so the other two had to start laying there also. The Ameraucanas are going on seven months old and should be laying. Lazy slugs better get with it.
