Little Big Girls

The little Biddies have grown up. They have decided that they want to roost with the big chickens. They really scared me Saturday because only one was in the cage where the Biddies have been living. I thought something had got one but later that night right before going to bed, I went back out and looked in the hen house and she was up on the roost. I didn't see her when I was looking earlier.

But now, every night they go in the big hen house and roost in the same spot. Just love it.

Enjoying Spring

Poppet and Suki are enjoying it also. They are especially enjoying all this green grass.

Whoa, what do we see? It evidently is not the same thing. I think Suki knows I have the camera.

The chickens want in one of the shots.

And of course, we have Chili. We were out working on putting up the new fence and Chili decided she wanted to play.

So play we did for a few minutes. Chili barks at you until you decide you want to play.

NO NO NO

See the little Biddies; how cute they are.

I see the Biddies. I WILL NOT chase them. I will not chase them.

I see the Biddies.

I will not chase the Biddies. I will not!
As you can tell, I had some issues with Sissy chasing the Biddies.

Brighten Up Tax Day

This is a close up of the plant from the post yesterday. I don't know why I didn't include it yesterday. I just didn't.

These are the blossoms on my Japanese Red Maple. It is really pretty this year.

This is my Lady Banks at it's full bloom. This is the best it has ever bloomed. Hopefully, it will get better every year.

We are just hanging out under the Spirea.

Strange Plant

This first picture is not very good, but it is a picture of a raccoon track. I was walking through the woods with Skylar and in the very back where I usually find good stuff is where I found this.

The strange plant (it's strange because I don't know what it is) is growing all over back by the branch. In the center of the plant you can see a leaf growing out of something that looks tubular on a stem. This next picture is a close up of it. Does anyone know what it is.

And of course, I have to get a shot of Skylar. She is good enough to go with me.

Can you see it? If I didn't know it was there, I don't know if I would see it. It's a terrapin. He even has his head out. I tried to get a closer shot with my IPhone, but I was trying to hurry and blurred it.

Sails and Koi

Last week MJ gave me some Black Japanese Trapdoor Sails. Quite a mouthful for such a little thing. Actually, it is about an inch long and will grow up to three inches. I here they like to eat algae; and my little pond has some for them.

This is a picture of my Koi from last year when I bought them.

Now look at them. They are only one year old. I am afraid they might out grow my pond. We'll see.

In the mean time, they'll just keep cruising around.

Biddie Report

Of the six Biddies I bought in March, these are the only two I have left. I can't tell you how sick I am over this, either. When I had them for about a week, I fixed a little pen for them. While I was gone one evening for a couple of hours, something got one. So I put some netting over my pen. That worked until they were bigger and I built a little pen out by the hen house. Anyway, long story short, a cat or cats are coming by and getting my babies. After thinking about it, I'm sure that is what happened to the one little Biddie that was born in February. I am going to have to figure out something, soon.

These are my little biddies that are one week old today. The two little white ones have a black spot on their left rump. I call them my little twins.

They are just too cute. They are getting to where they will get a little further from their mother (which worries me)

They are already starting to get little tales little wing feathers.

Now though, they are in the nest and ready to go nitey-nite.

It's Just Too Much

These pictures were taken last week when, believe it or not, the pollen was worse than it is now. Poppet and Suki's nostrils were yellow with pollen.

She didn't have a hankie. Bless her heart.

Oh well, nothing to do but go eat some more.

I was trying to get a close up of her face while we were in the barn. Nope, not having any of it. Her nostril were not only yellow, but the blaze down head was yellow.

Several weeks ago, I had some chicken house fertilizer put on the pasture. After a couple of rains, wow! The horses are having a great feast. This is still the rye grass I planted last fall.

Surprise

My Easter surprise. I went from the little biddie in the cup the the little biddies in the hen house.

Yesterday afternoon when I went out to gather eggs, I had a surprise. I was gathering the eggs and then looked in the last nest where the hen was setting and found two little heads looking at me. I went and got Tony to come see and dug down and found this one just born.

There was four hatched and I found one egg with a little hole in it. I left and then this morning they were all hatched. This really was a surprise because I had marked it on my calender and three weeks is Tuesday, April 6th.

I would guess this one is part Barred Rock. It is just a guess.

By noon today when I got back home, they were out and about, some. There is two little white ones with one black spot on their back and one red one and one black one and then the one with the stripe, which I think is an Americauna. Now I gotta ask, isn't that cute?

Flowers Again

It seemed like the Wisteria bloomed overnight. I would watch it every day or so; then boom, here they are. Sissy is kind enough to pose for me. I took several and then noticed one stem in front of her. I go move it; she moves also.

Just a few of the Lady Banks have bloomed. It looks like it is getting ready to go.

This one, Flowering Almond, is really pretty. Fiddle, they are all pretty. I can't decide which one I like best.

This afternoon something got my poor little Biddie. The one that was born in February. I think it might have been a hawk because it was still pretty early for coyotes. It was around five-thirty and it doesn't get dark until around seven-thirty. Poor little thing; and I had decided it was going to be a hen.
